What actually happened
Anthropic opened two betas on 8 October 2026 and took the beta label off three others. Claude Dashboards is in beta on paid plans. Claude Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise only. Claude Docs, Slides, and Design are generally available on every plan, including Free.
Dashboards connect to a data platform (Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks, or Snowflake) or to Salesforce, then answer a plain-language question with a view that updates as the data changes. Each chart shows the query behind it and when it last refreshed. Anthropic says they suit quick comparisons, such as this week's signups against last month. A deeper cut can be sent to Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog, or Sigma. Looker, monday.com, and Tableau are listed as coming soon.
Motion turns a report, chart, or walkthrough into a short animation. Anthropic's example is a 30-second all-hands explainer. Claude writes code that moves your text, charts, shapes, and images. It does not use a video model, so there is no generated footage and no synthetic people. You edit a word, a number, or a timing, then download an MP4 or open the file in Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma, or Runway. Canva and Captions are planned.
On Enterprise, both betas are off until an admin enables them. Docs, Slides, and Design turn on by default on 15 October, or an admin can enable them now. The standalone Design site at claude.ai/design stays up until 14 December, then closes. Design systems can be migrated now. Chats and comments on the standalone site do not come across.
Why a small team cares
A five-person agency cutting SaaS product explainers usually bounces a script through a slide tool and a timeline editor. Motion is a same-file version of that first cut, and the edit is in the code, not a regen. That only matters if the account is already on Team or Enterprise. A Pro seat cannot run the trial. Dashboards are a separate job: useless without a warehouse or Salesforce already connected, and not a replacement for the BI tool the client already pays for.
Hype vs useful
The 45 million docs, decks, and designs figure is Anthropic's count of artifacts made since launch, not a quality claim. Motion will not replace a graded product video. It is a timed test on one explainer. If the number change takes longer than the current workflow, leave it in beta.
